I’ve just stepped off the plane at Cancun International Airport (CUN) with my luggage in hand, ready to head to Akumal. The airport is a maze of terminals and gates, and I’m already thinking about how to get to my hotel. Akumal is a small town on the Caribbean coast, about 120 kilometers north of Cancun, and there are a few options for getting there from the airport. Getting From the Airport to Akumal City Center # The first thing I need to do is get to the city center of Akumal. The most straightforward option is to take a taxi. Taxis are readily available outside the airport, and they can take you directly to your hotel. It’s a good option if you’re traveling alone or with a small group, but it can get expensive if you have a lot of luggage.
